The Denver Broncos may have not had the most glamour win this past Sunday. However, a win is a win and it’s always a good feeling heading into Week Two of the season. This week’s focus will be on how to improve in the areas that the team struggled most in Week One.
The Broncos went into the season with plenty of questions surrounding how newly signed quarterback Case Keenum would play. He went 25 for 39 with 329 yards and three touchdowns to three interceptions. While his play was far from perfect, it was quite the step up for a team that has struggled at the position the past few seasons.
Other than that, Denver saw two players shine in the first game of the season. Linebacker Von Miller and hometown kid Phillip Lindsay had performances that drove the Seattle Seahawks crazy. Miller was a wrecking ball and compiled three sacks, two forced fumbles, and literally ripped the ball out of another NFL’s player’s hands mid-run. Now that is SICKO MODE.
The last time @VonMiller posted at least two sacks and two forced fumbles was Feb. 7, 2016.

The hometown kid Lindsay rushed 15 times for 71 yards and caught two passes for 31 yards and a touchdown. He and Royce Freeman were able to exploit the remnants of a once strong defense.
But for all the good that the team has seen, there still is plenty that Denver must improve it. The secondary played well but some of the inexperience of a relatively young unit was exposed. Failed tackles always plagued the defensive squad throughout the game.
Heading into Week Two, the Broncos will need to focus on making better decisions offensively. If they can keep driving the ball on the ground, Keenum should make fewer mistakes. His three interceptions cannot happen again if the team wants to compete in games.
Defensively, Denver will need to tighten up its defense for Marshawn Lynch. All of those missed tackles will only work in his favor in an important divisional game that could give the team some room with a 2-0 start.
The Broncos host the Oakland Raiders this Sunday at 4:25 PM EST.
