As we enter the final day of the NFL’s Week 4, we patiently wait a Monday Night Doubleheader that we didn’t even know would occur four days ago. Week 4 marked the first time that the NFL dealt with large COVID outbreaks among some teams. The Titans and Steelers game had to be indefinitely postponed due to an outbreak at the Titans’ facility.

On Saturday afternoon we found out another game would be affected by a positive COVID test, as Patriots Quarterback Cam Newton tested positive for the virus in his pre departure screening. The Patriots, Chiefs 4 O’Clock showdown was expected to be the NFL’s marquee matchup of Week 5. With the Patriots continuing to run tests on the remaining members of the roster, all came back negative. Allowing the NFL to quickly move the matchup to 7PM on Monday Night.

So here we are, with two Monday Night Games to enjoy this evening. All odds via BetOnline.

New England Patriots @ Kansas City Chiefs (-10.5)

The Patriots will travel to Kansas City without Cam Newton to take on the Chiefs in the first game of the doubleheader. Veteran Brian Hoyer will get the start in the place of Newton.

The Chiefs enter this one 10.5 point favorites which is no surprise. KC opened as 7 point favorites when Cam Newton was expected to play so the 3.5 point jump in his absence comes with little shock factor.

The Patriots defense has struggled mightily at times early in this season. The secondary which is supposed to be the strength of the team hasn’t showed the same shutdown ability that they displayed for much of last season.

They’ve been prone to giving up the big play this season, and there is no worse team to play right now than the Kansas City Chiefs.

If the Pats defense can’t contain Patrick Mahomes and the rest of this Kansas City offense, this game may get ugly very quick.

The Patriots offense just can’t keep up in a shootout with Hoyer at the helm. The best route to victory is to get some early stops, and control the clock on offense.

Thats easier said than done. I don’t see this game being very competitive.

Barr’s Prediction: Kansas City Wins and Covers

Atlanta Falcons @ Green Bay Packers (-6)

In the night cap, the originally scheduled Monday Nighter will still take place as Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons travel to Lambeau to take on Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.

You can’t start an NFL season much worse than the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons suffered a historical collapse in week two, they responded in week three with another huge collapse. This team is reeling despite hot start from Matt Ryan, and the offense.

Aaron Rodgers is clearly motivated by the Packers offseason decisions, and media noise. He’s got the Packers sitting pretty at 3-0, and the offense is one of the best in the NFL. On the injury front, He will be without his two top receivers as DeVante Adams continues to recover from a hamstring injury. Allen Lazard is also out as he underwent core surgery early this week.

Dan Quinn should be coaching for his life Monday, even though its a miracle he hasn’t already gotten the can. Can the Falcons not suffer a catastrophic, embarrassing loss this week? Are they capable of it?

Barrs Prediction: Upset alert, Falcons over Packers
