Bellator 258:

After a few weeks away, Bellator MMA returns to live action this Friday night from Mohegan Sun Arena for Bellator 258 on the Showtime premium cable network.

From now until the end of 2021, Bellator will put on its usual schedule of twice-monthly cards on alternating Friday nights, this after putting on three successive April cards from April 2 to April 16.

As is customary, coverage of the prelims will be on the Bellator MMA YouTube channel starting at 5:30 p.m. ET, 2:30 p.m. PT this Friday afternoon, continuing with main card action at 9 p.m. ET, 6 p.m. PT on Showtime from inside the Fightsphere at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT.

Highlighting the night at Bellator 258 on Showtime is the battle for the Bellator MMA World Bantamweight Championship between incumbent titleholder Juan Archuleta (25-2) and No. 1 contender Sergio Pettis (20-5)—a five-round affair at five minutes per round.

Contender Comparison:

Juan Archuleta is the taller man in this title matchup, standing 5-foot-9, with Pettis standing 5-foot-6.

How they got here:

The champ has posted a 4-1 record in his last five fights, including a current two-fight winning streak, extended most recently by unanimous decision vs. Patchy Mix to retain the title last September.

In the other corner, the challenger has gone 3-2 in his last five bouts, including a three-fight winning streak, defeating Ricky Bandejas by unanimous decision last July.

The Tale of the Tape:

Tapology shows that both men are level in reach (69 inches apiece) going into the headlining bout of the card on Friday evening.

Prediction: Juan Archuleta by unanimous decision.

Other fights on Friday night’s main card include:

Co-Main Event (Bellator MMA World Light Heavyweight Grand Prix Quarterfinal No. 4): Anthony Johnson (22-6) vs. Jose Augusto Azevedo Barrios (7-6) [Augusto replaces Yoel Romero, who withdrew due to injury]

No. 3 contender Patricky Pitbull (23-9) vs. Peter Queally (12-5-1) [Lightweight]

No. 2 contender Michael Page (18-1) vs. No. 6 contender Derek Anderson (17-3) [catchweight: 175 lbs.]
