Chelsea have made N’Golo Kante their second signing of the summer. Leicester City accepted the Blues’s 30 million pound offer for the midfielder, a club transfer record fee.
“Seventy percent of the Earth is covered by water, the rest is covered by N’Golo Kante.” Such an exaggeration circled around the football world as a result of holding midfielder’s impressive performances for the Foxes. Kante had more tackles and interceptions than any player in the Premier League last year.
Unfortunately for Claudio Ranieri, he couldn’t retain the Frenchman’s services. Kante stated, “The opportunity to work with Antonio Conte, a brilliant coach, and some of the best players in the world was simply too good to turn down.” Jaime Vardy must be disappointed after declining a move to Arsenal in an effort to set an example for the team.
Though his first match as Chelsea manager ended in a loss, Conte’s squad will undoubtedly be a title contender this coming season given the Italian’s managerial abilities and tactical philosophies paired with the world class squad he is building.
According to recent rumors, Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly may follow Kante to Stamford Bridge. Koulibaly is Conte’s type of defender. The 25 year-old Frenchman is both strong and versatile enough to fit into any back line Conte decides to run.
P.S. If Paul Pogba is worth 120 million Euros, Kante’s transfer fee should’ve been more 30 million pounds.
