It has been an interesting road to the playoffs and now we are down to the final four. Let’s take a look.

In the Eastern Conference, we have a two-leg showdown between Columbus Crew and Toronto FC.

The Crew made it difficult for themselves to get this far, narrowly edging out NYCFC after going through on penalties in Atlanta.

After winning the first leg of the Conference Semis 4-1 at home, they traveled to Yankee Stadium to defend the lead, which is simply not their style of play.

They were nearly put to the knife with NYCFC scoring 2 goals and being one shy of sending Columbus home, but the Black and Gold prevailed.

Toronto FC also narrowly got past New York Red Bulls, but were bailed out by the “away goals” rule thanks to the two they scored at Red Bull Arena.

The Reds will move on to Columbus without their two star strikers, Sebastian Giovinco and Jozy Altidore, for yellow card accumulation and ejection of the last game, respectively.

Toronto are the favorites, and will easily move past Columbus due to the experience and depth of their squads.

Moving to the Western Conference, there are Houston Dynamo going against current MLS Cup champions Seattle Sounders FC.

Houston Dynamo finished this MLS season in 4th place in the tough Western Conference, while Seattle Sounders finished right behind top-of-the-West Portland Timbers.

Neither team has been outstanding this season, but each has their own strength.

Will Bruin will have much to play for, seeing that he used to be a Houston player before moving over to the Sounders.

“I’m sure it’ll feel a lot more surreal and stuff when we get closer to the time and we’re warming up there and I’m actually back in Houston. It would be great, though, to be in Seattle and knock Houston out to go to the MLS Cup.” Bruin said.

Seattle have also been stout in their defensive shape, having only 39 goals against them compared to Houston’s 45 goals against.

Both of these teams are evenly matched, so each will be looking at their own big-name players (looking at you, Clint Dempsey) to pull off something special.
