With the Miami Heat’s 125-113 Game 6 victory over the Boston Celtics on Sunday night, the NBA Finals are set. Wednesday night, a series to crown an NBA Champion will get underway. The Miami Heat led by Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo will take on LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers with an NBA Title on the line.

As the days before the Game 1 of the NBA Finals count down, BetOnline has begun activating a plethora of different odds for the NBA Finals. There’s odds available on game 1, the series, Finals MVP, and various series props for you to bet on.

Here at Armchair Media, we want to take a quick look at the NBA Finals, and the top odds to watch throughout the series.

Game 1

The Lakers (-195) open as 5 point favorites for Game 1 of the NBA Finals,  putting Miami (+170) as 5 point underdogs obviously. The interesting thing about Game 1 is the Lakers general disinterest in Game 1’s throughout the NBA Playoffs.

The underdog won in two of the three Game 1’s that the Lakers played in thus far. The conference finals were the Lakers lone game 1 win in the playoffs.

Miami is a team that sets the tone early in these series. They make it a point to punch you in the mouth from the outset of the series.

I personally don’t give Miami much of a chance in this series. I’ll speak more on that later on. On the other hand, I absolutely love Miami in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

Miami enters the NBA Finals as +280 underdogs. A familiar position for the Miami Heat, as they were underdogs in both the Milwaukee, and Boston series. Underdog status doesn’t seem to bother this team very much, as they’ve kicked the crap out of the favorites in the past two series.

The problem? Boston and Milwaukee didn’t have LeBron James. LeBron James is on a warpath towards his 4th NBA championship. He has the most complimentary supporting cast he’s had in his career, and he’s never played with a player as skilled and dominant as Anthony Davis.

LeBron is laser focused in these playoffs and it’s spread to the rest of the guys in the locker room besides Kuzma.

Miami’s been the cinderella story of the NBA playoffs. They’re going to keep these games close throughout the series, as they just don’t have any quit in them. The Lakers aren’t the Celtics though, they have the ability to close games. LA has a clear cut closer, who happens to be the Greatest Player of All Time.

Miami puts up a fight nightly, but too much LeBron and AD allows the Lakers to make relatively quick work of the Heat. +280 just isn’t valuable enough to put money on Miami in this series.

With it being known I think the Lakers, are winning this series. Finals MVP really comes down to two guys. LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

A Case for the King

LeBron James (-145) opens as the clear cut favorite to win the Finals MVP. James got screwed of the League MVP Award so I feel bad for whoever stands in the way of him capturing Finals MVP. In 15 Playoff games this year, James is averaging 26.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 8.9 assists. He’s been dominant, and efficient shooting almost 55% so far.

Argument for the Brow

Anthony Davis (+275) possesses the second best odds for Finals MVP. Davis has been just as dominant so far in these playoffs averaging 28.8 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.

The thing working for Davis, is LeBron’s insistence that the Lakers will go as far as Davis takes them. James has showed the willingness to let Davis cook when he’s got it going. AD benefits from his co-star being an incredibly unselfish player.

From a basketball standpoint, I just don’t see how the Heat guard Davis outside of Adebayo. The thought of Kelly Olynyk, and Meyers Leonard coming off the bench trying to guard Anthony Davis is hilarious. Davis is going to scorch earth on whatever bench big they send at him. Going small and trying to pester Davis with Crowder, or Iggy might be the Heat’s best bet, but even that has high potential for destruction.

Anthony Davis at +275 has some nice value to it, although the award likely goes to James.
