Georgia Southern shuts out Memphis 5-0 to take a 2-0 series lead heading into game number three on Sunday.  The Eagles’ shutout of Memphis is the first time since 2013 that the Tigers have been held scoreless in a game.  This is also the first time they have been held scoreless since 2014, as they were not shut out last season as well.

Chase Cohen (1-1) is the second Eagle pitcher in as many days to take a no hitter into the sixth inning.  Cohen passed Evan Challenger who took his no hitter on Friday into the start of the sixth inning.  Cohen finished with a line of 6.1 innings pitched allowing no runs, on one hit, walking one batter, and striking out seven.

Cal Baker was the offensive machine once again for the Eagles going 2-4 with two RBI’s and scoring once. Evan McDonald also had an RBI as well as Logan Baldwin who went 1-3 from the plate with a walk and two runs scored.

Georgia Southern began the scoring in the bottom of the second inning when Eric Furphy grounded out to second base scoring Will Hudgins from third and advancing Baldwin from second.  Baker then singled to right field to score Baldwin from third making it a 2-0 game.  The Eagles added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth with Baker and McDonald singling back to back to score two more runs, before Cal scored on a wild pitch.
