Lamont West

Lamont West has been impressive in the absence of Esa Ahmad. If Esa is out again on Friday night, look for West to get hot. When he’s on there is not stopping him. He’s a freshman and has been inconsistent so far this season, but Friday could be another standout game for West.

Deonte Burton

Deonte Burton has been quite the beast for Iowa State this season. Burton leads the team in rebounds, blocks, and steals. If the Mountaineers try to key on Monte Morris, look for Burton to burn West Virginia in the paint.

The number two seed in the Big 12 Tournament is up for grabs going into the final weekend of the season. Both West Virginia and Iowa State have an opportunity to take charge of their seeding. Iowa State is currently set to be the two seed in the tournament, all they need to do is win. Something that has been a tough task for road teams in Morgantown.

This game is going to be a battle between point guards. Jevon Carter for West Virginia and Monte Morris for Iowa State are two of the best guards in the Big 12. Both players lead their respective teams in points and assists. Friday nights matchup in Morgantown will revolve around the two. Carter has stepped up in the absence of Esa Ahmad, who has sat out the last three games with a lower back strain. Monte Morris has been a stud for Iowa State for a couple years now and he never disappoints when hes on the floor.

Coming off a loss to Baylor the Mountaineers are going to be out for blood. Coach Huggins will surely have his players poised and ready to go on Friday. However, if Iowa State shows they can break the press, the game will come down to whether or not Huggs can make the adjustments, something he has had trouble doing in the teams few losses this season.
