Jayden McDaniels is bursting on the scene

Each year there is a player that seemingly comes out of nowhere. For the class of 2019 that player very well may be Jaden McDaniels.

The 6’10 power forward from Federal Way, WA is climbing to the top tier in many expert rankings for the class of 2019.

ESPN currently ranks McDaniels as the #2 power forward in the country and 9th best player overall. That is considerably higher than many of the players that Kentucky is already actively recruiting.

Recently McDaniels referred to UK as his dream school in an interview with Ben Roberts from the Lexington Herald Leader.

That is a good sign for Kentucky should they choose to get involved. McDaniels being located on the West Coast always produces a unique obstacle for the coaching staff to over come. Landing a kid from the west coast is not impossible, as UK has proved, but definitely is more challenging.

Kentucky already has a big man playing the same position committed for 2019, D.J. Jefferies.

At this point, it is unknown what involvement UK has, if any. I don’t think Jeffries already being committed would impact McDaniels decision too much. Anyone who entertains the idea of coming to Kentucky knows that they will be playing with other talented players. Maybe even some who might share the same position.

I have seen the length of Jaden McDaniels compared to Kevin Durant. He has a great basketball frame that will only continue to develop.

With his recent surge in the rankings there is a chance McDaniels finishes as one of the top players in 2019.
