LFA 85:

Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) returns live to UFC Fight Pass this Friday night, as it will every Friday night for the remainder of this month, as Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, SD plays host to the second of four straight LFA events this month, LFA 85.

Coverage begins on UFC Fight Pass at 9 p.m. ET, 6 p.m. PT.

As has become the norm with MMA shows for much of this year, LFA 85 will occur without a live audience in the venue in an effort to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19.)

LFA’s COVID procedure:

In addition, the LFA and Sanford Pentagon will work in concert to ensure the health and safety of all fighters on upcoming LFA events, including virus testing and the removal of fighters from the show in the event of positive coronavirus tests.

Due to a cancellation because of a positive coronavirus test prior to the event, LFA 85 will feature six fights this weekend.

Hughes vs. Demopoulos:

Highlighting the Friday night show is the inaugural LFA Strawweight championship fight between Sam Hughes (4-0) and Vanessa Demopoulos (4-1.)

This fight will be a maximum of five rounds at five minutes per round.

Contender Comparison:

Heading into the main event of the evening, Sam Hughes is the taller fighter, standing 5-foot-5, compared to Vanessa Demopoulos at 5-foot-1.

Sam Hughes has gone 5-0 in her last five MMA appearances, dating back to her amateur career.

Most recently, she scored a unanimous decision on Jan. 31 vs. Lisa Mauldin in LFA 81 on UFC Fight Pass during the main card.

In the other corner, Demopoulos has gone 4-1 in her professional career so far.

Last time out, she scored a unanimous decision on Jan. 31 vs. Loveth Young in LFA 81 on UFC Fight Pass to open the evening’s main card.

The Tale of the Tape:

Tapology shows that Sam Hughes owns a 2.5-inch reach advantage (64.5 inches to 62 inches) over Vanessa Demopoulos heading into Friday night’s main event.

Prediction: Sam Hughes by unanimous decision.
