After exchanging some buckets the Ramblers would go on a 11-0 run to extend their lead to 10.
Barry Brown caught fire near the end of the half allowing the Wildcats to keep the game close, but the game would not get much closer in the second half.
Meanwhile Loyola-Chicago’s Ben Richardson nearly made everything in the first half, scoring 11 points while going 3-4 from three. Richardson drilled a clutch three-pointer near the end of the half to give the Ramblers a 12-point lead at halftime.
In the second half Richardson would remain hot as he made another three while being fouled en route to a four-point play.
The Ramblers kept adding to their lead and Kansas State had no answer.
An unsung hero of the game for the Ramblers was Cameron Krutwig who locked down the post the entire game. Kansas State struggled to win the rebounding battle and the team missed many shots when they got close to the rim thanks to Krutwig’s elite defense.
Now the Ramblers and Sister Jean will travel to San Antonio for the Final Four.
