With the Orlando Magic recently losing to the Indiana Pacers at home last Sunday, the question on if the team can bounce back in preparation for its game against the Philadelphia 76ers, was thrown out the window once Markelle Fultz went coast to coast in the early minutes of the game, eventually resulting in the Magic winning, 112-97.

The Sixers, a team that has gone 7–3 since the beginning of the season, was a team that the Magic knew would be a struggle to play against. Even without all-star player, Joel Embiid, the Sixers were still a formidable opponent with players such as Ben Simmons and Al Horford.

The game against the Sixers, showed that many players on the Magic have either stepped up or have gotten out of their slump. Some players that have gotten out of their slumps would include Aaron Gordon and Terrence Ross.

Those that are no longer in slumps

Gordon started off the season with a strong start, but was in a short slump with him quickly bouncing back. One thing that stuck out that indicated Gordon overcoming his slump was how he was 7–for-9 in free-throws, in the game against the Sixers.

As for Ross, he has had a lackluster start, even though he is known for providing a “spark” off the bench; however, ever since his game against the Pacers, he has recently regained his ability to perform at a level that we’re familiar with, with him ending with 13 points.

Those that stepped up

As for players that have stepped up, one player that comes to mind is Michael Carter Williams, who has contributed 11 points. Additionally, both Gordon and Nikola Vucevic were able to end the game with double-doubles. Gordon ended with 18 points and 13 rebounds and Vucevic ending with 25 points and 12 rebounds.

Magic v. Spurs

Overall, the Magic record is now sitting at 4-7. The Magic will host a game against the Spurs, a team that has a been enduring a three-game losing streak, but has a record of 5-6.

My name is Jonathan David and I am from a small town called Green Cove Springs, located in northeast Florida. Originally from Miami, Florida, my family moved up north, as I was entering the fourth grade. Once we moved, I eventually started getting into sports a lot more. I did soccer, basketball and running and pole-vaulting; however, the main sport that I pretty much keep up with is, basketball, specifically the NBA. Although I’ll occasionally watch track and field if it’s on ESPN. There were many reasons why I got into basketball, besides it looking like fun, one reason was because I wanted to be like Bugs Bunny from Space Jam, not Michael Jordan, but Bugs Bunny, and while my dream of being an animated character hasn’t panned out, I still enjoy playing and watching the sport. My favorite NBA team is the Orlando Magic, and I’ve been a fan since Lebron was in Miami, so when they eventually get good, people can’t say I’m a bandwagon fan.
