On National Signing Day (Feb. 7) the Wolverines are hoping to round out their 2018 class. Michigan already has had three recruits early enroll and 13 additional players signed back in December. There are few recruits left that head coach Jim Harbaugh has his eye on, but here are his top targets that are within reach for the #BlueBloods18.
Four-star linebacker Otis Reese is committed to Michigan and has not announced any plans to decommit, but he has certainly showed interest in his home state university, the Georgia Bulldogs. Reese has made several unofficial trips to Athens over the past season and made an official visit just over a week ago.
The four-star is coming off of a season where he helped lead his team, the Lee County Trojans, to their first ever state championship. Some of the Michigan coaching staff was even in attendance for the historic win, including coach Greg Faye and Chris Partridge. Defensive coordinator Don Brown as well has made several trips to Georgia after Reese’s regular season finished in an attempt to build a strong relationship with the recruit as the second signing period approached.
Although Reese has not publicly announced that he is deciding between the Wolverines and Bulldogs come February 7th, it is safe to assume Georgia will be on his mind.
Michigan is pushing hard to get former Rice offensive tackle Calvin Anderson. The graduate transfer is deciding between Texas and Michigan. Michigan is in desperate need of an experienced offensive tackle as left tackle Mason Cole graduates and the Wolverines do not have a set-in-stone right tackle.
Anderson was only a two-star out of high school and received no Power Five offers. But, since he announced his intentions of transferring, he has drawn attention from Oklahoma and TCU on top of Michigan and Texas.
Other things to note:
Kevin Doyle, a three-star quarterback, decommitted from Michigan Sunday. He thanked Harbaugh and passing coordinator Pep Hamilton and announced that he will be signing with a different team on Feb. 7. Doyle had been committed to Michigan since September 24, 2017 but chose not to sign during the early signing period because he wanted to participate in a signing day event that his high school puts on for all the students who sign on NSD.
Four-star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase has announced that he will be deciding between LSU and Auburn on NSD.
Jarrett Patterson, a four-star offensive tackle, made it clear that he will choosing between Notre Dame and UCLA.
