As Michigan State prepares for its Big Ten showdown with No. 7 Penn State, the Spartans also are prepping for what should be one of the more crucial recruiting weekends of the season.

So far Michigan State has an array of official visits lined up, including those from two SEC commits.

Tennessee verbal commit Shocky Jacques-Louis indicated via twitter that he was planning on visiting for this weekend’s game.

The three-star wide receiver out of Fort Myers (Dunbar), Florida has been committed to the Volunteers since August 21, but looks to be keeping his options open.

Another SEC recruit that is planning a visit is Ole Miss verbal commit Allen Love. The three-star defensive tackle out of Birmingham, Alabama had scheduled an official visit for the Notre Dame game earlier this season, but had to reschedule.

Aside from those two, the Spartans have visits from top targets set up with four-star linebacker Christopher Oats and four-star wide receiver Tommy Bush both intending to visit as well. Michigan State has been trying to bring in Bush for a while, but the distance between East Lansing and the Schertz, Texas native has prevented the two from agreeing to an official visit.

The last time the Spartans had a high profile opponent visit Spartan Stadium was Sept. 23 when Michigan State faced Notre Dame in primetime. Despite a 38-18 loss, the weekend proved to be quite fruitful with three verbal commits that weekend. With some success, the Spartans may be able to reel in a few more verbals.

Growing up I knew two things, I loved sports and I was a talented writer. With that in mind I set out to begin my career in sports journalism. As a lifelong fan of Spartan athletics, I decided to attend MSU and later graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in journalism. My other sports passion is Detroit sports, specifically the Detroit Lions (still waiting to witness my first playoff win). Since graduating from MSU, I have had the opportunity to write for various publications including MLive and Detroit Sports Nation. I am now excited to join Armchair All Americans and help cover Michigan State recruiting. Besides sports, I enjoy playing video games and listening to all kinds of genres of rock music. I currently reside in Grand Rapids, Michigan with my wife Melissa.
