Michigan versus Nebraska is a matchup of two of college football’s “blue-blood” programs as well as a matchup of passion from their respective coaching sidelines. Jim Harbaugh and Scott Frost are not only considered toward the upper echelon of college football coaches, but both also coach at their respective alma-maters.
Harbaugh is already known to be one of the more passionate coaches in all of football. His sideline rants were more popular during his first two years on Michigan’s sideline. As for Frost, he simply wants to restore a winning tradition within the Cornhuskers program.
Current Cornhuskers Jared Foster and Mick Stoltenberg spoke during Frost’s inaugural press conference at Nebraska, where they explained the deep passion that Frost has for the program.
“I got to meet most of the players that got to play with him, and they told us we’re getting the right guy and we’re getting a guy who will sacrifice everything he can for us to be successful and will be passionate every single day,” Stoltenberg said. “Hearing that from guys that played alongside him, that’s very exciting. It makes me hopeful and very confident in the future.”
As for Harbaugh, his passion for the University of Michigan is unmatched. He is undoubtedly one of the most passionate individuals related to the school. He has even described getting the opportunity to coach Michigan as something he “has dreamed of since he was a lad.”
Harbaugh’s playing career is most well remembered for his performance during the 1985-86 season as the starting quarterback for the Wolverines. That season he threw for nearly 3,000 yards and delivered a Fiesta Bowl victory over none other than Nebraska.
Frost’s college career was highlighted by the shared 1997 national title, which they shared with none other than Michigan. Although he would go on to play safety in the NFL, Frost would throw for just over 1,000 yards that season before beginning his professional career.
Although Nebraska has started off the 2018 campaign 0-2, they will be coming into Ann Arbor looking to put Michigan on upset alert and capture their first victory of the year. Michigan is currently the 17-point favorite.
