Ohio State recruiting added a few more recruits to their 2019 and 2020 classes this week. Inside linebacker Kane Patterson and offensive guard Luke Wypler recently made their commitments. Here is some information on the newest Buckeyes.

Kane Patterson

Patterson is a 4-star inside linebacker whose recruiting came down to Ohio State and Alabama. At 6-1 and 225 pounds, he can light players up, and in high school, he is always one of the most athletic guys on the field. Patterson always seems to be the guy stopping the run. His aggressive nature is one of his best qualities because aggressiveness is a hard quality to teach.

Patterson’s versatility makes him an appealing player to Urban Meyer and his coaching staff. Patterson doesn’t just play linebacker, however. He also plays running back. He was recruited by Billy Davis and Tony Alford who are the linebacker and running back coaches respectively. Patterson did suffer an ACL injury last season, but it doesn’t sound like it will be much of a problem in the future. He is one of two linebackers to commit to the 2019 class.

Luke Wypler

Wypler is a 6-4 and 285-pound offensive lineman. He is the No. 75 ranked player in his class. His IQ is something that separates him from a lot of other players. Ohio State might be looking at him as a future center for the team because of his knowledge of the game. Wypler’s athleticism is another attribute that intrigues coaches. He ran a 4.78 40-yard dash which is well above average for his weight.

Wypler had 24 offers which included Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame, Stanford, and Wisconsin. It came down to Ohio State and Stanford for Wypler, and he decided to choose the Buckeyes. The 2020 class is looking like it will be another great class due to the early success Ohio State recruiting has had.
