Rick Barnes and his staff are on the pursuit for another five-star guard, which would make this a very historic class for not only Barnes but also the Volunteers. With five-star guard Keon Johnson and four-star Corey Walker, Barnes is looking to add Jaden Springer, a five-star shooting guard out of IMG Academy.
Along with the Vols, Memphis and Michigan are among his top-three. According to reports earlier this month, Springer cancelled his visits with Florida and North Carolina. This move had the crystal balls turn into Tennessee’s favor, as the Vols now hold 100% of the crystal balls.
Springer, a 6’5” shooting guard weighing in at 195 pounds, has amazing strength to go with his ability to score at all three levels. Springer has the potential to be a lockdown defender. Springer will bring much talent to a roster that is going to need it with seniors Jordan Bowden and Lamonte Turner graduating at the end of the season.
Springer is an exceptional all-around player, with his ability a highly unguardable mid-range game. At IMG Academy this past season, Springer averaged 18.6 points and 3.9 rebounds
Jaden Springer has been a top priority for Rick Barnes’s coaching staff for a while now. Jaden Springer’s official visit to Knoxville will be taken on Oct. 5, when the Georgia football team comes into town. Springer’s visit will be the last official visit before he announces his college destination.
North Carolina led at one point during Springer’s recruitment, but after cancelling his visit there. Tennessee has taken as the team to beat heading into the final stretch of Springer’s recruitment. Memphis is Tennessee’s biggest competitor, but I believe that Tennessee will win this recruitment battle.
