Let’s try this again:

A few weeks ago, on the June 18 Top Rank Boxing on ESPN card, the promotion had hoped to bring you a 10-round Super Lightweight contest between Jose Pedraza (26-3, 13 knockouts) and Mikkel LesPierre (22-1-1, 10 knockouts) in its main event.

However, the main event was called off prior to the show due to LesPierre’s manager testing positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), with Top Rank rescheduling the headliner for its July 2 card.

Thursday, these two fighters are back to try it again in the main event of the last Top Rank Boxing on ESPN card before Independence Day (8 p.m. ET, ESPN and ESPN Deportes.)

This rebooking will be a maximum of 12 rounds at three minutes per round.

As is now the norm, this Top Rank event will take place without fans in attendance inside the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas and with ESPN’s commentary team calling the fights remotely in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Contender Comparison:

Heading into Thursday’s main event, both contestants stand level at 5-foot-8.

How they got here:

Jose Pedraza has posted a 3-2 record with one knockout in his last five fights.

Most recently, he dropped a unanimous decision to Jose Zepeda on Sept. 14, 2019 during the Tyson Fury vs. Otto Wallin card on ESPN+.

In the other corner, Mikkel LesPierre has gone 4-1 with two knockouts in his last five fights.

Last time out, he scored a unanimous decision against Roody Pierre Paul on Dec. 5, 2019.

The Tale of the Tape:

Tapology shows that Pedraza has a 71-inch reach, with no such information for LesPierre.

Prediction: Mikkel LesPierre by unanimous decision.

Other fights on Thursday night’s card include:

Co-Main Event: Albert Bell (16-0, five knockouts) vs. Mark Bernaldez (20-3, 14 knockouts) [Lightweight-10 rounds at three minutes per round]

Robeisy Ramirez (3-1, three knockouts) vs. Adan Gonzalez (5-2-2, two knockouts) [Featherweight- six rounds at three minutes per round]
