A quiet month of August for UFC wraps up this Saturday evening with UFC Fight Night in Lincoln, NE. In all, only three August events have been held in UFC over the last two years.

It’s the calm before a September storm for MMA. This weekend’s card has already seen three changes to it.

To start off, No. 7 contender Justin Gaethje (18-2) was initially scheduled to fight No. 9 contender Al Iaquinta (13-4-1) in a Lightweight contest, but this match was never formally agreed to, as Iaquinta did not sign the fight contract. In place, Gaethje will now fight No. 10 contender James Vick (13-1) in the headliner.

A planned Women’s Strawweight fight between No. 14 contender Angela Hill (8-4) and No. 12 contender Alexa Grasso (10-2) was postponed after the latter sustained a knee injury. No. 11 Cortney Casey (7-5) has been placed in as Grasso’s replacement.

Finally, the scheduled Middleweight prelim between Andrew Sanchez (9-4) and Antonio Braga Neto (9-3) was canceled due to the Neto’s injury. Markus Perez (10-1) is replacing him on the card.

In all, UFC Fight Night Lincoln (main card Saturday, 10 p.m. EDT on FS1) features 13 fights.

As for the headliner between Gaethje and Vick, Gaethje comes into the contest on a two-fight losing streak, going 3-2 in his last five MMA appearances.

His most recent loss came on April 14 during UFC on FOX 29, a fourth-round knockout at the hands of Dustin Poirier in that card’s main event.

In the other corner, Vick comes into the fight on a four-fight winning streak, with his last win coming on Feb. 18, 2018, during UFC Fight Night Austin in a decisive victory on the main card.

Looking at the ufc.com tale of the tape for this match, Vick holds the advantage in both reach (76 inches to 70 inches) and leg reach (43 inches to 40 inches), respectively.

I’ll take Vick by first round knockout.

Other fights on Saturday night’s main card include:

Michael Johnson (18-12) vs. Andre Fili (18-5) [Featherweight, co-main event]

No. 14 contender Angela Hill (8-4) vs. No. 11 contender Cortney Casey (7-6) [Women’s Strawweight]

Jake Ellenberger (31-14) vs. Bryan Barberina (13-5) [Welterweight]

No. 6 contender John Moraga (19-6) vs. No. 14 contender Deiveson Figueiredo (14-0) [Flyweight]

Eryk Anders (10-1) vs. Tim Williams (15-4) [Middleweight]
