UFC on ABC 2:
It isn’t too often that the UFC has a Saturday afternoon card in the United States, but it’s what we’ve got this week as the promotion returns from an Easter hiatus with UFC on ABC 2.
With the UFC being on ABC again, it’s time to bust out one of my favorite YouTube clips:
OK, so it’s ESPN on ABC now, but I still call it ABC Sports.
Coverage of this card begins with the prelims at 12 noon ET, 9 a.m. PT on ESPN, followed by the main card action at 3 p.m. ET, noon PT on your ABC station from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
This event will be streamed in full on ESPN+.
Saturday’s card will feature 14 MMA bouts, highlighted by the Middleweight main event between sixth-ranked contender Marvin Vettori (16-4-1) and 10th-ranked contender Kevin Holland (21-6) in a five-round fight at five minutes per round.
A late replacement:
Kevin Holland is taking this bout on just nine days’ notice, stepping in for Vettori’s original opponent, Darren Till, who withdrew from the show (collarbone injury.)
Heading into the main event on Saturday afternoon, Kevin Holland is the taller fighter at 6-foot-3, with Marvin Vettori standing six feet even.
How they got here:
Marvin Vettori enters having gone 4-1 in his last five UFC appearances, including a unanimous decision victory most recently vs. Jack Hermansson in the UFC Vegas 16 headliner on Dec. 5, 2020.
In the other corner, Kevin Holland has gone 4-1 himself in the last five fights, losing last time out to Derek Brunson just three weeks ago during UFC Vegas 22’s headlining bout.
The Tale of the Tape:
UFC.com shows that Kevin Holland owns a seven-inch reach advantage (81 inches to 74 inches) over Marvin Vettori, who has a one-inch leg reach advantage (41 inches to 40 inches) over Holland.
Prediction: Kevin Holland by unanimous decision.
