One note about this past week’s Warrior Wednesday 3, the order of the fights for the co-main and main events were the reverse of what they were on Tapology.
After a week away for the Memorial Day holiday weekend, the Ultimate Fighting Championship opens up the month of June this Saturday morning and afternoon for the 11th ESPN+ UFC Fight Night. The UFC has a jam-packed month of June this year, with four events out of five weekends this month.
Undercard action begins at 10 a.m. EDT, 7 a.m. PDT on ESPN2, followed by the main card at 1 p.m. EDT, 10 a.m. PDT on ESPN+.
(For those of you on the West Coast, set your alarms before bed this Friday night. A 7 a.m. wake-up call happens pretty early, especially on a Saturday morning.)
This week’s UFC on ESPN+ card finds the promotion making its first visit to Stockholm, Sweden since the Jan. 24, 2015 UFC on FOX 14 event. That night, Anthony Johnson took the main event via first-round knockout against Alexander Gustafsson.
This week, Gustafsson (18-5), now the No. 2 Light Heavyweight contender, returns to Stockholm to fight No. 4 contender Anthony Smith (31-14) in the headliner.
Heading into Saturday’s main event, Alexander Gustafsson stands 6-foot-5, one inch taller than Anthony Smith’s 6-foot-4 frame.
Gustafsson has gone 2-3 in his last five UFC appearances. He enters this main event looking to avenge his last defeat at the hands of Jon Jones during UFC 232 on Dec. 29 (third-round knockout) during the main event for the then-vacant Light Heavyweight title.
In the other corner, Anthony Smith has posted a record of 3-2 in his last five MMA appearances. Like Gustafsson, he enters this fight looking to avenge a loss last time out against Jon Jones, who successfully defended the Light Heavyweight Championship against him in UFC 235 on Mar. 2 in the main event by unanimous decision.
The Tale of the Tape
According to UFC.com, Alexander Gustafsson holds the advantage in both reach (79 inches to 76 inches) and leg reach (46 inches to 44 inches) heading into the headliner.
Prediction: Alexander Gustafsson by first-round knockout.
Other fights on Saturday’s main card
No. 11 contender Jimi Manuwa (17-5) vs. Aleksander Rakic (1-1) [Light Heavyweight, co-main event]

Damir Hadzovic (13-4) vs. Christos Giagos (16-7) [Lightweight]

The scheduled co-main event in the Light Heavyweight ranks between No. 9 contender Ilir Latifi (15-6, one no-contest) and No. 7 contender Volkan Oezdemir (15-4) was postponed after Latifi withdrew from the card due to a back injury.
Oezdemir will not be rebooked on this card.
