The results from the annual NBA rookie survey came out earlier this week.
In some years, the rookie surveys are on point. For instance, Donovan Mitchell being picked as last year’s steal. Another example includes 2013 10th overall pick, C.J. McCollum, at the top of the Rookie of the Year race. In other cases, you end up with Kris Dunn out of these things.
The results from the survey do mean something based off of the accuracy from past years. No one knows these players’ games more than perhaps their peers.
How they figure it out
The group saw how Young passed down the stretch in a huge comeback win against the Indiana Pacers in the Vegas Summer League. The group also knows that he led the nation in assists last season. They also know how well he still passed the ball well when he was struggling with his shot in the first few summer league games.
Omari Spellman also received votes for being the best defender in the class, which he naturally defended especially on Twitter.
