This is a tough question to answer. The Milwaukee Bucks may be a team on the rise, but it sure is tough for a player to win an MVP award in a small market. Russell Westbrook may have accomplished this feat just a year ago with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Unfortunately, players like him only come around once in a while. So, the question is whether or not Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of those types of players.
Similar Styles of Play:
Well, it’s funny actually. If you look closely, Westbrook and the Greek Freak have similar head shapes, hair, and facial expressions on the court. They even play a similar type of aggressive, driving-to-the-hole offensive game. These are besides the point, which is that Antetokounmpo finished sixth in NBA MVP voting this past season.
Remember, players like James Harden (the actual MVP recipient), LeBron James and Anthony Davis were at the top of the voting. The fact that Giannis finished that closely to some of the greatest players in the league right now. That shows that he is definitely in contention for being a future MVP. Remember, Giannis is only 23 years old and is already at this stage in his career.
The next great Milwaukee Buck?
Will his possible future MVP season be in a Milwaukee Bucks uniform? Giannis has already expressed his interest in staying in Milwaukee for the foreseeable future. The lineup currently being assembled and developed in the Cream City along with the new head coach in Mike Budenholzer only strengthens that possibility.
With talent such as Eric Bledsoe, Khris Middleton and Jabari Parker still on the roster next to the Greek Freak along with the rookie in Donte DiVincenzo, there are lots of bright spots in the Bucks’ future. Antetokounmpo had his best season to date in 2018. Now, we can only hope that 2019 is even better than the last.
